– In A Sumptuous Brown Gravy (Site) I have a theory about this record.  I think what happened is that a doctor in the psych ward at some anonymous urban hospital gathered up some patients who claimed to have some musical talent, and put them in a recording studio.  Probably, the good doctor believed that this would be good therapy for the poor confused patients whose sense of reality is distorted beyond belief by their various mental illnesses.  For inspiration, he probably played some Frank Zappa records for them, and let them watch the movie “Dune”, starring Sting, over and over again.  And it may have been good for them, there’s no way for us to tell.  But what we can know for sure is that the resulting recording is almost agonizingly unlistenable.  I would not recommend it to my worst enemy. – Brian Mosher
